Dynamine Vs Caffeine

There are many different kinds of stimulants available today. It is important to understand that each source can effect your body differently. Some provide smooth long lasting energy, while others can cause jitters, energy spike/crash and possible anxiety if overused.  Each year more and more stimulants are discovered and used in pre-workouts — attempting to reduce the negative effects. Teacrine and Dynamine are two of the newest and possibly the best that are currently available.

Teacrine/ Dynamine ® What is it?

Teacrine is a Liberine and Dynamine is a methyl Liberine (a Liberine with an additional methyl group). Liberines are a class of compound that posses both adrenergic and dopaminergic qualities (refer to points below). These compounds are structurally similar to caffeine, differing by an additional carbonyl group (C=O)

Liberines have risen in popularity amongst Pre-workout manufacturers due to their chemical structure preventing a body tolerance (you don’t need to start double and triple scooping to get the same effect).

How does Dynamine ® differ from Teacrine?

DYNAMINE® is the registered trademark found in Kuding extract (Kucha Tea). It has been found in many plants including very low doses in coffee beans, guarana and cocoa. The additional methyl group allows Dynamine to have a higher bioavailability in comparison to Teacrine, so you need less of it to get the same effect, and you experience its effects much quicker (15-30 min) compared to Teacrine (approx. 90 minutes) – this shorter time to ‘kick in’ is clearly beneficial for pre-workouts so you don’t have to drink a supplement almost 2 hours before your workout.

The graph below compares a study done by Compound Solutions (1).

Here you can see that Dynamine also has a much shorter half life, meaning its effects will decline after 60 minutes – making it a better option to caffeine for afternoons or evenings training sessions.

Adrenergic and Dopaminergic Properties of Liberines (2)

  1. Adrenergic – DYNAMINE® stimulates the release of a two very powerful energy neuro-transmitters called epinephrine (adrenaline) and nor-epinephrine (nor-adrenaline). They are responsible for increasing energy, focus, alertness and liberating fatty acids (body fat) for energy. These two hormones act upon the alpha and beta receptors in the brain, liver, muscle and fat tissue.
  2. Dopaminergic – DYNAMINE® activates the D1 and D2 Dopamine receptors which enhances your bodies release and response to dopamine. Dopamine is responsible for motivation, determination, satisfaction, pleasure, reward and drive. This is critical as it also helps to motivate individuals and balance the adrenaline for a smoother clean energy felling without anxiety and a crash like other stimulants.
